"Aliens" 2013
In the year 2013, 764,495 international students are studying inside the United States. My project focuses on the phenomenon of international students who are pursuing their college degrees in the United States. This show will guide the viewer to look specifically at what it is like to be in the shoes of three international students who are studying art education in an American University. More to the point, the research presented in this project addresses important cultural and social issues experienced by international students.
My study identifies some of the challenges that international students encounter during their pursuit of educational studies at US universities, particularly those students who consider English as their second language. This research and exhibition draws primarily on personal testimonies international students including me. This self-study refers to statistics on international students that are provided by the University. The experience of the student is collected and presented through a final solo art show. This case study is example that conveys the experience and expectations of international students at an U.S. University.
